Meet Chloe Lee
the NYC-based tech whizz behind the app fashion girls are actually downloading
Two themes have been swanning around my subconscious recently: firstly, all things Chloé - particularly the ’90s and early ’00s Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo eras, as well as the recently launch Summer collection. I’m fantasising and fangirling over the brand more than ever, but to be fair who doesn’t want to become some kind of iteration of a Chloé girl this summer?
Secondly: tech. I would not necessarily define myself as a tech girlie but I’m currently working on a project with a tech brand, and it suddenly feels like a very exciting realm to be delving into - particularly when it intertwines with fashion. This week’s newsletter features a woman who embodies both themes in a way that is almost comical. Don’t you just love life’s little synchronicities?
I first came into contact with Chloe and Selleb Sisters about a year ago when she reached out to introduce Selleb, a receipt-sharing app she co-founded with her sister Claire and ask whether they could feature me. I was instantly struck by the clever concept and impressed by how cool and efficient the app actually is.
In a digital landscape saturated with overconsumption, affiliate links and endlessly curated aesthetics, Selleb feels damn refreshing: a platform centred around what people are actually buying rather than just performing online. It’s fashion-girl tech, but with some genuine substance behind it.
Chloe feels equally compelling herself, a rare breed of woman who can speak fluently about product design, algorithms and user behaviour whilst also referencing Phoebe Philo-era Chloé or obsessing over the perfect orange hued LV jacket.
Chloe: I am 1/2 of Selleb Sisters (based in NYC). Selleb is the receipt-sharing app where you can see what the coolest people on the internet are actually buying :) It’s also a memory vault of sorts, where you can see a timeline of everything you have bought — down to groceries and Ubers. Every purchase really does paint a picture of who you are and what you value.
My everyday dopamine hits come from the meals I share with my sister (we eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together most days). Being able to start and end the day together might be one of the greatest pleasures in life.
What gave you the idea to start Selleb?
LONGGG story short we’ve been in fashion / tech space since we were in middle school. This is what we live and breathe. Start here ;)
