About a month ago, I shared my love for Zoe Kravitz’s effortless summer style and tbh I thought at that point she’d already reached peak cool-girl summer-goddess energy. Since then I’ve been (trying) to channel her sporty/chic vibe into my everyday looks. Then this week she showed up with a Carrie Bradshaw inspired ensemble that shook me to my core, styled to perfection by Danielle Goldberg (who is imo the best celebrity stylist right now, working with holywood’s ultimate cool girls aka Saorise, Ayo, Greta and Mia) and honestly? I’m screaming!
All I can say is well played Danielle, well played. I felt the urgent need to share this pièce de résistance with well, everyone so here I am dedicating this week’s substack to the woman I want to be when I grow up, my free card and arguably the queen of summer style. Keep reading to see how I would recreate this look in the real world plus some of my other favourite Zoe summer inspo.
Okkk so let’s break down the look, starting with the shorts - look for vintage style basketball shorts that are high waisted, these ones I found feel very spot on, or if the basketball look isn’t your vibe then you can always go for a classic boxer short, these are my favourites. Next up you want the perfectly worn, slightly oversized graphic tee, here’s one that feels on point but also anything vintage would be ideal. Just make sure to tuck it casually to keep the silhouette styled and not sloppy.
Next up is the minimalist heel and the contrast is really key here, go for a kitten heel/mule in a classic shape and style, preferably a Manolo Blahnik. Here are some other options I found; 1. Vintage Tom Ford era Gucci, 2. The Row, 3. Maryam Nassir Zadeh, 4. Toteme. Then of course you have the YSL bag, but if you’re not a YSL kind of girl just go for a crescent shaped bag with a soft structure - something that feels slouchy but luxe. Here you have a nice alternative I found and here you have another.
Last but not least are the finishing touches; black sunglasses (I personally love these and these), minimal but chic earrings like these or these and a slick low pony paired with glossy skin (try these sheet masks and this essence and thank me later) and just your favourite brow gel and lipbalm. I’ve personally just rekindled my love affair with Glossier boy brow and haven’t looked back.
And with that, I’ll leave you with a few of my all-time favourite Zoe summer looks, may they live on in your camera rolls, mood boards and mirror selfies.
Ciao for now!
